Common Assessment Process (CAP)

For more than 20 years, ESC member organizations have used our community’s own common assessment process across our network. Frontline staff use CAP to ensure a consistent approach to effective and respectful client intake and assessment in order to best assist and make referrals as appropriate.

There are 4 related CAP Workshops for different frontline staff roles.

UPCOMING CAP TRAINING

The Employment Sector Council is pleased to offer a series of Common Assessment Process trainings delivered in-person from November 13 until December 12, 2023. The trainings will be offered over two days in ten available sessions. The Common Assessment Process, or CAP, is a standardized model for building collaborative client information-gathering and action planning sessions. Expert trainers will guide participants through a variety of engaging sessions and interactive workshops. Common Assessment Process

ESC’S Common Assessment Process (CAP) Training is a preferred competency for intake and assessment workers, as well as case managers and employment counsellors.
Our most popular workshop, we now offer a 3-part online course designed for direct-service professionals: learn a standardized, collaborative model for client assessment and employment action planning in a highly interactive session.

Fees for CAP Training:

ESC Member: $350 + HST
Non-Member: $425 + HST

ReCAP: A Common Assessment Process Refresher

Re-CAP is a one-day course which helps staff and teams to revisit CAP training with others. Has it been a few years since you took CAP Training? This is great workplace team building and professional development opportunity to share CAP experiences and stories, and to re-energize employment counselling skills.

We offer Re-CAP based on interest. Please contact carol@esc.network to arrange a workshop for your staff or to get on our waiting list to reserve your space.

Fees for Re-CAP Training:

ESC Member: $150 + HST
Non-Member: $200 + HST

Understanding CAP & Community Employment Resources

This workshop is a one-day course for individuals who would benefit from a greater understanding of the client assessment and referral process. This course is designed specifically for Employment Resource Centre staff, employment support and reception staff, and others who provide information and referrals.

Workshop participants learn about the process their clients can expect on their journey to employment and the range of resources that exist in our community to assist them with this.

Group Employment Planning

Group Employment Planning is an advanced two-day course in facilitation in a range of employment-related workshops. Staff who facilitate groups of people in employment assessment and/or employment planning will benefit from this skills-oriented session, in facilitation and workshop leadership.
